The Israeli naval forces opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats off southern Gaza shores on Wednesday evening.
Local sources affirmed that Israeli gunboats targeted Palestinian fishing boats with heavy fire and tear-gas bombs while sailing off Khan Yunis shores to the south of the Gaza Strip.
The fishermen were forced to return ashore the sources added.
Under an inhumane siege the Israeli army keeps attacking — sometimes injuring or killing — farmers and fishermen almost on a daily basis with no regard for the mediated ceasefire deals in Gaza or even the international law.
Since the start of the year ten fishermen were injured in similar attacks while 39 others were arrested including six minors. Five fishermen are still detained till today while 11 fishing boats were confiscated.
According to Palestinian figures roughly 50000 inhabitants of Gaza earn their living through fishing.
