The Israeli prison service (IPS) on Thursday transferred the Palestinian hunger striker Hassan Shawka to a hospital after his health has taken a turn for the worse.
Shawka has gone through excruciating pains in his chest and endured a sharp weight loss. He was transferred from an isolated cell in Ofer jail to the Ramla prison clinic his lawyer Ahlam Haddad told the PIC.
The detainee has been on an open ended hunger strike since October 11 to protest his administrative detention with neither charge nor trial in Israeli lock-ups.
Shawka has reportedly lost 15 kilograms of his weight. He was re-arrested by the Israeli occupation forces just one month after the end of an earlier prison term.
