BRUSSELS (PIC)– Heads of Palestinian communities and Palestinian unions in Europe have urged Saturday Palestinian factions to immediately sit with each other and to reopen the door of national dialogue to resolve their political disputes.
In a statement they signed to express their views over the escalated events in occupied Palestine the leaders expressed their anxiety over the accelerated political developments in the Palestinian arena affirming that such developments could jeopardize the entire Palestinian national venture as the USA and Israel wish.
In this regard the signatories warned the Palestinian faction of a concocted US-Israeli conspiracy to widen the gap and deepen the rift among the Palestinian factions using all available means and tools.
“It is nationally unaccepted to close the door of dialogue before your Palestinian brothers while you rush for talks with your enemy” the statement further pointed out in apparent allusion to PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’s decision to sever talks with Hamas and to engage in negotiations with the Israelis.
Open arena:
The signatories furthermore opined that developments occurring in the Palestinian arena in the aftermath of the PA legislative elections and Hamas’s victory in those elections had proven that the Palestinian arena was open and susceptible to external influences that attempted to derail the Palestinian political process.
In this regard the leaders deplored attempts of certain Palestinian parties to side with the USA and Israel at the expense of the Palestinian people’s national interests and helped them in complicating and igniting the Palestinian internal front by striving to push the Palestinian community into the quagmire of civil war.
But the signatories confirmed their full confidence in the maturity and prudence of the Palestinian people adding that the Palestinian people are aware of what is happening around them and know how to differentiate between good and bad.
Unfortunate decisions:
Moreover the signatories frankly expressed their disapproval and disappointment over the decisions taken by the PLO’s central council in which they affirmed the council poured oil on fire and widened the gap between Palestinian brothers.
“We were shocked by the resolutions taken by the PLO’s central council that do not reflect the pulse of the Palestinian street as our Palestinian people expected the council to bridge the gap and call for reconciliation but it failed the Palestinian populace” the statement underlined.
They also underscored that the Palestinian people need the PLO to be strengthened and reconstructed based on stronger and more firm democratic foundations so as to include all Palestinian trends and to tackle the Palestinian issues at home and in the diaspora.
Tightened siege:
Furthermore the signatories warned of US-Israeli conspiracy with the help of local and regional parties to starve and to isolate the tiny Gaza Strip affirming that such practices violate international laws and the simplest human rights’ principles that could have its adverse repercussions.
In addition the Palestinian leaders strongly rejected attempts by certain parties to isolate Gaza Strip from the West Bank and deprecated voices pushing in this direction to portray such split as a fact on the ground.
“Our Palestinian people are one people and our Palestinian land is one and inseparable land” the statement asserted urging Palestinian resistance factions to consolidate their national unity in order to foil such conspiracies.
They also urged the Palestinian parties and factions not to lose direction of the compass and to preserve the struggle path against the Israeli occupation that was paved with thousands of martyrs and decades of national struggle.
