Palestinian man dies because an IOF barrier hampered his transfer to hospital

Monday 19-February-2007

QALQILIA (PIC)– A 21-year-old Palestinian man died on Sunday after an IOF roadblock at the gate blocking the Azun village east of Qalqilia city impeded his transfer to hospital locals reported.

Locals said that Adel Omar was seriously injured when his tractor overturned in the village on Sunday and that the only way out of the village which has been strangled by the apartheid wall was through the iron gates installed and controlled by the IOF.

The villagers did manage to get Adel to hospital at the end but it was too late for him to be saved.
Medical sources said that he arrived at hospital dead because he suffered extensive bleeding as a result of his injuries.

Adel’s family and local residents laid to rest the young man and urged the international community to pressure the IOF into removing those barriers that are causing death to numerous Palestinian patients on their way to hospitals.

In Salfit IOF troops stormed the village of Eskaka at a late hour Sunday firing live rounds and sonic bombs and were confronted with stone-throwing Palestinian youth.

In Bethlehem IOF units blasted a Palestinian car at a military roadblock after claiming it was booby-trapped.
