Nazareth – The nightmare of the Palestinian home-made missiles has evidently disturbed the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) as they become more accurate and more effective in hitting targets in the Israeli depth.
A number of IOF top Generals acknowledged that the Palestinian missiles especially the Qassam rockets of the Hamas’ armed wing were rapidly developing.
Hebrew media sources affirmed that hundreds of Israeli settlers in the Israeli settlement of Sderot that suffered the bulk of the Palestinian missile attacks were leaving in mass exodus in search for safer places. They were reportedly settling in hotels and recreation spots in the resort city of Eilat (its Palestinian name is Um Al-Rashrash) on the Red Sea.
The Hebrew Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted IOF top military officers as saying that Hamas’ military capabilities were increasing and that its missiles would become more effective within months.
A heated argument was recorded in an Israeli cabinet session dedicated to discuss ways and means to thwart those missiles as a number of Israeli ministers including war minister Amir Peretz internal security minister Avi Dichter and infrastructure minister Benyamin Ben Eleizer traded accusations over Israel’s failure to foil those rockets.
Feeling the pressure on him Peretz telephoned PA chief Mahmoud Abbas Monday and sought his help to stop firing Palestinian missiles from Gaza. Abbas according to the Hebrew daily promised to convince the Palestinian factions to halt the attacks.
Palestinian resistance factions had repeatedly affirmed that the missile attacks on Israeli settlements were only retaliatory acts in revenge to the brutal IOF troops’ crimes against the unarmed Palestinian people.
In March last year all Palestinian factions including Hamas heeded Abbas’ call on them to halt the missile shelling in return to a comprehensive IOF troops halt of aggressions on the Palestinian people.
The Palestinians respected their word to Abbas but IOF troops atrocities against the Palestinian people never came to a halt even for a single day since then.
