Palestinian prisoner ends hunger strike after Israelis pledge release

Palestinian Prisoner Bilal Diab suspended his hunger strike in an Israeli jail after the prison authorities pledged not to renew his administrative sentence.

Prisoner Diab announced his decision to end his 23-day hunger strike after the Israeli prison service in Megiddo jail promised to release him on January 18 his family has said.

In 2012 32-year-old Bilal Diab from Jenin’s town of Kafr Ra’i has gone through a 78-day hunger strike to protest his administrative detention with neither charge nor trial. He was rearrested by the Israeli occupation forces on July 14 and sentenced to a six-month administrative prison-term.
