Palestinian prisoner’s health condition seriously deteriorates

The health condition of the imprisoned Najah University physics professor Issam Ashqar 57 has seriously deteriorated only a week after his detention family sources revealed.

Ashqar’s wife affirmed that her husband might suffer a heart attack at any moment as he suffers from high blood pressure.

He had suffered a stroke in a previous arrest at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces she said noting that her husband takes 11 different drugs.

The wife pointed out that that her husband is currently held in Megiddo prison and scheduled to be brought to court within few days.

Ashqar was first arrested in 1999 where he spent two years in administrative detention to be then re-arrested in 2006 for two years.

Ashqar’s wife called on local and international human rights groups to work on his release before it is too late.

Issam Ashqar was arrested on Nov. 24 after IOF soldiers broke into his house in Nablus.
