Tuesday 30-August-2022

The dialogue between Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Hadarim prison and the prison administration has failed Asra media office revealed declaring the prisoners’ readiness to declare a general hunger strike.

In a brief statement released Monday evening Asra media office affirmed that the prisoners decided to close all the prison sections starting from Tuesday in preparation for their escalatory protest steps.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) also affirmed that the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) refused to meet the prisoners’ demands mainly to cancel its punitive measures.

Earlier Monday Israeli jailers stormed two rooms in section (2) in Megiddo prison leading to a state of tension in the prison.

“This raid comes as part of the escalating repressive measures practiced by the Israeli prison administration against Palestinian prisoners” the PPS said stressing that Palestinian prisoners are preparing to start their open-ended hunger strike in protest at the repeated Israeli violations.

The Palestinian prisoners also dissolved on Sunday the regulatory committees representing them as a major protest step against repressive measures before staging a mass hunger strike on the first of September.

Thousands of Palestinian prisoners are taking part in a series of protests designed to highlight their ill-treatment including staging a mass hunger strike that is set to start on Thursday.

The Captive Movement called on the Palestinian masses to organize pro-prisoners vigils in support of their protest steps.
