Palestinian refugees in Sabineh camp suffer from electricity cuts

Monday 7-November-2022

Palestinian refugees in al-Sabineh camp southwest of the Syrian capital Damascus are suffering from electricity cuts that recently reached 24 consecutive hours.

Moath al-Khatib an activist in the camp stressed that electricity has been available only for one hour or less adding that the families live in darkness most of the time as the winter season approaches.

Activist al-Khatib added that the rates of poverty and unemployment are rising in the camp pointing out that the poverty rate has reached nearly 85 percent.

He concluded that more than 30 theft incidents were carried out simultaneously commenting that this reflects that one gang is responsible for the crime.

Al-Sabineh camp was established in 1948 on an area of 27000 square meters near the city of Sabineh.
