Palestinian releases affidavit on harsh torture in PA lock-ups

Wednesday 15-March-2017

An affidavit released by a Palestinian who was recently released from a Palestinian Authority (PA) lock-up gave evidence of harsh torture.

Ex-detainee Mos’ab Kashou’ from Qalqilya released live snapshots showing traces of torture all over his body.

In a testimony released shortly after his release Kashou’ said he had been subjected to heavy beating and harsh torture in PA detention centers after he was kidnapped from his uncle’s home last Thursday.

Kashou’ had also been made to endure exhaustive interrogations on charges of affiliations with Hamas and ties with international parties which he said were “counterfeit and groundless.”

Kashou’ further stated that he had been verbally abused by the PA officers and had his nose broken and head shaved against his will.

The PA officers further dragged him to an agricultural land and aggressively beat him with a stick causing him an acute hemorrhage.

The ex-detainee said he was arrested just five days after he returned from the US to the West Bank. He was released after signing pledges to never circulate material that might “destabilize order.”

Over the past few days a statement by the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council sounded the alarm over the torture tactics and mistreatment Palestinian detainees have been increasingly subjected to in PA detention centers across the occupied West Bank.
