Palestinian rushed to hospital after health gets worse in Israeli jail

Sunday 19-November-2017

Palestinian prisoner Fadi Sarsour aged 23 was transferred to the Israeli Soroka Hospital following a sudden health setback.

Spokeswoman for the Palestine Prisoners Center for Studies Amina Tawil said Sarsour held in Eshel jail suffered sudden suffocation and has caught blue spots all over his body. He was rushed to Soroka Hospital so as to undergo urgent checks.

Tawil said the detainee’s health condition has sharply deteriorated as a result of an anonymous sting he suffered in the Negev jail on October 24 2017. Shortly after strange symptoms have started to appear on his body most notably swelling in his neck chest and limbs. Medics at the prison clinic diagnosed him with an “unknown allergy.”

She further sounded the alarm over the systematic medical neglect pursued by medics at the prison clinic where his health condition has gone from bad to worse. Now the detainee can barely breathe and suffers esophagitis (swollen esophagus).

The Palestine Prisoners Center held the Israeli occupation responsible for the repercussions of medical neglect and the dire captivity conditions on Sarsour’s life and safety.

The center urged the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately release the detainee held in Israeli jails since November 29 2015 and serving a 30-month term.
