Dozens of students choked on teargas on Wednesday morning during clashes that broke out shortly after heavily-armed Israeli forces rolled into southern al-Khalil in the southern occupied West Bank.
Local sources said that clashes erupted near al-Nahda Boys School and the vicinity of Tareq Bin Ziad secondary school in the Israeli-occupied southern area of al-Khalil province.
Rouhi al-Zaro headmaster of al-Nahda School said that Israeli soldiers cracked down on the students on their way to school resulting in fierce clashes.
He added that Israeli soldiers threw tear gas canisters at the schoolchildren dozens of whom suffered from suffocation. Classes in both schools were disrupted as a result.
Students enrolled at schools in the southern part of al-Khalil are regularly harassed by Israeli soldiers and settlers.
