A Palestinian young man managed on Wednesday morning to grab hold of an Israeli police officer’s weapon and seize it during a security check of his car on a road in southern al-Khalil.
The Israeli occupation police said that a Palestinian driver after intercepting his car for a security check at the al-Fawwar junction near al-Khalil in the West Bank grabbed an M-16 rifle held by one of the police officers there and dragged the officer along as he started to drive off until he successfully got hold of the weapon.
The Israeli police were unable to immediately apprehend the young man who drove his car towards an area near al-Khalil City according to Israeli news reports.
Later the young man reportedly turned himself in to the Palestinian Authority security forces and the rifle was handed back to the Israeli army.
