A Palestinian man was shot dead at dawn Saturday by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Azzun town east of Qalqilya in the West Bank.
The victim was identified as 27-year-old Yehya Adwan according to the Palestinian health ministry.
The health ministry said the victim died of a bullet that pierced his heart.
Video footage posted on social media show Adwan running as he gets shot in the back. He was an ex-detainee.
The incident happened during clashes between local youths and the IOF in the town. Later the clashes escalated following the young man’s death.
The IOF launched a large-scale campaign in the West Bank overnight following a shooting operation in the illegal settlement of Ariel that killed a settler working as a security guard. The resistance fighters who participated in the operation fled the scene aboard a car and a manhunt is still underway.
