Violent clashes broke out on Tuesday evening between Palestinian young men and Israeli soldiers in al-Khalil city and the towns of Beit Einun and Sa’ir.
Local sources told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that skirmishes broke out at sunset in Bab al-Zawiya square during which Israeli soldiers opened fire and used tear gas to disperse angry young men.
The sources added that the young men showered the soldiers and the military tower at the entrance to al-Shuhada street in the Old City of al-Khalil with stones.
Later more troops aboard jeeps stormed the area occupied the rooftops of some tall buildings and embarked on chasing the young men in nearby alleys and streets.
Meanwhile similar events took place at the junction of Beit Einun town and at the entrance to Sa’ir town east of al-Khalil where local young men confronted Jewish settlers and soldiers.
The clashes started in Sa’ir after soldiers brutalized a local workman at a makeshift checkpoint they set up at its main entrance.
Eyewitnesses said that one young man was arrested after some soldiers chased him and others in the town.
