Tuesday 13-March-2007

VIENNA (PIC)– Around 120 Palestinian youths have flocked into the Austrian capital Vienna from different parts of the European continent to attend the first Palestinian youth gathering in the city.

The three-day-conference that concluded on Sunday was the first of its kind and considered as a great opportunity for Palestinian youths living in Europe to connect and exchange ideas and expertise with each other one of the conference organizers explained.

At the conclusion of the conference the participants issued a statement where they affirmed their adherence to the right of return to their homeland pledging not to waiver that right at any cost.

According to the youths they were proud to be identified as Palestinians stressing they were still and will remain part of the great Palestinian people and the great Arab and Muslim Ummah and that they will never abandon their identity and original belongingness regardless of the temptations.

Moreover the conference welcomed the Makkah accord between Hamas and Fatah factions urging Palestinians all over the world to consolidate ranks and to unite against the Israeli occupation government.

The IOA excavations at the Aqsa Mosque was also present on the conference agenda as the participants scathingly condemned those diggings and accused Israel of attempting to distort Muslim landmarks in Jerusalem and speeding up efforts to judaize it.

Leaving no doubt over their readiness to serve the Palestinian issue the youngsters highlighted the importance of activating their role across the European continent and endorsed a number of resolutions taken in this direction in quasi-gatherings in the past in a number of European capitals including London and Berlin among other capitals .

They also deprecated the unjust economic siege imposed by the USA and its allies on the cash-strapped Palestinian people and called on Arab and Muslim countries as well as friendly countries in the world to help break the blockade without hesitation.

In this context the conference hailed efforts made by Arab and Muslim communities in the continent in alleviating the miserable condition of the Palestinian people which is an outcome of that “oppressive” embargo.

In addition the youths vowed to double their efforts in explaining and acquainting European peoples with the Palestinian issue in order to rally more popular support for it.
