At least 31 people were injured including medics and a journalist after Israeli police forces used stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets to disperse Palestinian crowds in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Occupied Jerusalem late on Sunday.

Sheikh Jarrah has witnessed a second night of violent Israeli police and settler assaults turning the Occupied Jerusalem neighborhood into a “war zone”.

The Red Crescent Society affirmed that 31 people were injured four of them suffered serious head injuries.

Four others were hit with metal bullets while a child was hit with a stun grenade.

Three paramedics a journalist and two foreign peace activists were among the injured.

Dozens of Palestinian supporters had gathered late in the evening last night in and around the Salem family home who are facing imminent expulsion to stand in solidarity with the family against settler raids.

A group of settlers led by far-right Knesset member Itamar Ben-Gvir had erected a tent on land adjacent to the Salems’ home in the morning and set up a parliamentary office station there.

Dancing and singing racist Islamophobic chants settlers were seen provoking the family and at times assaulting them.

Meanwhile police forces showered local residents with tear gas as they tried to ward off the settler attacks.

The Salem family is one of the local families threatened with forcible evacuation from their homes to make way for Jewish settlers.
