GAZA (PIC)– The Palestinian government in Gaza has reached agreement with Mahmoud Abbas’s authority in Ramallah to deduct a percentage of civil servants salaries in order to purchase fuel necessary to generate the Gaza electricity station.
Suhail Skeik the director of Gaza electricity company said that the agreement stipulated deducting 170 shekels from each government employee whose monthly salary is more than 1500 shekels.
He told the PIC on Tuesday night that the agreement would go into effect by early September adding that the deduction would include all civil servants at first until those with arrears show up to pay their dues.
Skeik warned that any backtracking on that agreement by either party would resurface the Gaza power crisis.
