Thousands of Palestinians marched Sunday afternoon in the funerals of two Islamic Jihad martyrs who were killed in an Israeli artillery attack east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Member of the Islamic Jihad Political Bureau Nafez Azzam said that Israel’s heinous crimes against the Palestinian people mirror its failure to break their will and stop the Great Return March protests.
Azzam added that what the Great Return March has achieved confirms that the Palestinian people will never surrender or give up their rights.
“This crime will not go unpunished” the Islamic Jihad leader Ahmad al-Modallal said holding Israel responsible for the repercussions of the latest escalation in Gaza.
He added “Resistance is a legitimate right. The Palestinian factions have the right to defend our people as long as Israel occupies our lands.”
Al-Modallal hailed the two martyrs for sacrificing their lives in the Palestinian struggle against the occupation.
He also praised Gaza youths’ creativity which appeared in their protests against the Israeli occupation and involved burning thousands of dunums of settler lands by flaming kites and breaching the border fence in defiance of the Israeli forces.
Two Palestinians identified as Abdul-Halim al-Naqa 28 and Hussein al-Amour 25 were killed Sunday morning when the Israeli army launched an artillery attack on a resistance post east of Khan Younis. A third young man Nasim al-Amour 25 was seriously injured in the attack and succumbed later to his wounds.
