Families of Palestinian martyrs and activists on Tuesday staged a protest at the governorate building in Bethlehem demanding the Palestinian Authority (PA) to work to return bodies of martyrs withheld by Israel.
The PIC reporter said that the protesters raised pictures of the detained martyrs and condemned PA’s silence vis-à-vis this Israeli policy.
Azhar Abu Sorour the mother of the Palestinian martyr Abdul Hamid Abu Sorour said in a statement to the PIC that the Israeli policy of holding bodies of Palestinian martyrs is purely political.
Abu Sorour affirmed that until this moment there has been no official position on the issue calling on the PA to intervene immediately and pressure Israel to release the bodies.
She stressed the need for concerted efforts at the political and legal levels to raise the issue with international organizations in order to put an end to this “crime”.
