Palestinians injured arrested in Israeli raid on Negev village

At least 10 Palestinians were injured and 11 others arrested during clashes in Beir Haddaj village in the Negev after the Israeli occupation forces stormed the village on Monday morning.

Local resident Salman Ben Hamid said that heavily armed Israeli soldiers and masked thugs raided the village to arrest a Palestinian citizen and assaulted and harassed the village’s residents after they failed to find him.

Violent confrontations broke out in the area where the Israeli forces physically assaulted many residents threatened to shoot others and prevented ambulances from entering the village to provide medical help to the wounded.

Other citizens were arrested a number of whom were wounded in the clashes and detained without being offered medical aid.

Beir Haddaj families are subjected to a displacement campaign by the Israeli authorities that has been stepped up in the recent months. An Israeli court has lately endorsed the demolition of 70 homes in the village.

Nearly 240000 Palestinians live in the Negev desert in villages and communities that were established hundreds of years ago.
