Palestinians injured as IOF quells Kafr Qaddum march

Friday 7-December-2018

Dozens of Palestinians choked on teargas on Friday when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violently quelled the weekly demonstration of Kafr Qaddum village in Qalqilya.

Popular resistance coordinator in Kafr Qaddum Murad Shtewi said that the IOF soldiers heavily fired live ammunition and teargas canisters at the peaceful demonstrators climbed the rooftops of many Palestinian houses in the area and used them as lookouts.

Shtewi said that dozens of Palestinian demonstrators suffered breathing difficulties as a result of inhaling teargas and were treated in the field.

He called on human rights organizations to intervene and put an end to Israel’s use of live ammunition against peaceful protesters.

Despite the cold weather and heavy rain dozens of Palestinians in Kafr Qaddum marched peacefully along with a number of foreign activists to demand the opening of the village’s road which has been closed for 15 years and to mark the anniversary of the First Intifada.
