Friday 16-September-2022

Hundreds of Palestinian refugees in the camp of Shatila in Beirut marched en masse to mark the 40th anniversary of the heinous massacre of Sabra and Shatila.

The march which was held on Thursday headed from the center of the Shatila refugee camp to the Sabra suburb and then to the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Shatila.

Palestinian activists and officials in their speeches during the rally stressed that justice must be achieved for Palestinian refugees adding that such massacres are not subject to the statute of limitations.

“Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the massacre of Sabra and Shatila reflects that the families of the martyrs who were killed in the bloodbath will not forgive the criminals” one of the Sabra and Shatila massacre survivors Mohammad Surour said in his speech.

In 1982 thousands of Palestinian refugees were brutally massacred by a pro-Israel Lebanese militia group immediately after the Israeli army had occupied the Lebanese capital Beirut where the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps are located.
