Dozens of Palestinians performed evening prayer on Wednesday near an electronic gate erected at the northern entrance of al-Shuhadaa street in al-Khalil city in support of al-Aqsa Mosque.
Human rights activist Hisham al-Sharbati said that a number of activists working in human rights and humanitarian organizations performed the prayer in solidarity with the worshipers protesting at al-Aqsa Mosque’s gates and in rejection of the latest Israeli measures there.
Palestinian worshipers decided on 16th July to perform their prayers outside al-Aqsa Mosque in protest at the metal detectors and smart cameras installed around the site by the Israeli police in an attempt to tighten their control over the holy Islamic shrine.
