Palestinian citizens on Friday stopped a Jewish settler from burning the Gethsemane Church in Occupied Jerusalem and handed him over to Israeli police officers.
A bearded settler in his 40s wearing a Kippah (Jewish cap) sneaked into the Gethsemane Church in the Mount of Olives area poured flammable liquid on wooden pews and lit them ablaze according to local reports.
The Israeli occupation police belittled the incident and described the settler’s motive as “criminal.”
For his part senior Hamas official Mustafa Abu Arra condemned the settler’s failed arson attack as “a reflection of the corrupt and criminal Israeli mentality.”
Abu Arra said that the settlers with the help of their government “target everything that is Palestinian including human beings stones trees and holy sites” in order to pave the way for their Judaization and occupation plans.
