The Islamic Christian Authority for Patronizing Jerusalem and Holy Sites has called on Palestinian citizens to intensify their presence in the Aqsa Mosque compound as of tomorrow Sunday to foil any attempts by settlers to defile the holy site in large numbers and perform rituals in its courtyards.
In a statement on Saturday the Islamic Christian Authority warned of “unprecedented” mass settler break-ins at the Aqsa Mosque called for by extremist Jewish groups and figures including extreme-right Knesset member Itamar Ben-Gvir during the eight-day Hanukkah holiday.
The Islamic Christian Authority said that settler groups started recently to make preparations for such break-ins and launched incitement campaigns on social media calling for performing different rituals and lighting a menorah inside the Aqsa Mosque compound.
