Paralyzed Palestinian prisoner in intensive care

Wednesday 30-May-2007

SALFIT (PIC)– The health condition of Palestinian detainee Rabia Harb from the north of Salfit who suffers paralysis has deteriorated noticeably as he was transferred to the intensive care unit in the Israeli Ramla prison hospital.

According to the sick and wounded prisoners in the Ramle prison Harb suddenly suffered from severe bleeding after returning from his trial hearing in a military court and his bed was covered with blood pointing out that he is now in intensive care between life and death.

The prisoners along with Harb’s family appealed to the concerned human rights societies to exert pressure on the IOA for his release in order to accord him the needed surgical operations abroad. Harb suffers from paralysis as a result of being shot at by IOF troops in his abdomen legs spinal cord and kidneys.

In another development for the 11th time in a row the IOA extended the administrative detention of prisoner Mohamed Al-Manasira 36 years from east of Al-Khalil for four months.

Al-Manasira is considered the oldest administrative prisoner in Al-Khalil where he has been detained for 4 years in addition to his former 46-month-detention by the IOA.

As a result of medical negligence Manasira suffers from serious vision problems as well as severe pain and inflammation with gravels in his kidney; furthermore the prison administration declines to approve any family visits for him.
