OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Shimon Peres the Israeli president has asked the European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering to stop showing any understanding or support for the Hamas Movement during a meeting on Tuesday evening.
The Israeli president’s office quoted Peres as saying that the Europeans should understand that Hamas is a “dangerous terrorist organization” and any contacts with it would only impede the peace process.
For her part Tzipi Livni the Israeli foreign minister asked Poettering to combat what she called the wave of anti-Semitism in the European continent.
Israel has been increasingly concerned with the reported European contacts with Hamas.
