The lawyer of hunger-striking prisoners Ahmed Abu Fara and Anas Shadeed filed a petition with the Israeli high court of justice to immediately order their release after their health conditions reached a very serious life-threatening stage.
The petition stressed the urgency to transfer the prisoners from Assaf Harofeh hospital near Tel Aviv to another one in Ramallah.
This came after their lawyer Ahlam Haddad visited them and witnessed the seriousness of their health conditions.
Lawyer Moataz Shakirat from the Palestinian Commission for Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ affairs also visited them on Thursday and warned that Abu Fara and Shadeed could die any moment as a result of their grave health conditions.
“Although there were many and long hunger strikes staged by prisoners over the recent years but it was the first time I saw someone suffering like prisoners Shadeed and Abu Fara who are bedridden in extremely serious conditions and unable to move at all” Shakirat stated in a press release.
He also pointed out that the hunger strikers were unable to talk and had serious health complications including severe headaches and stomachaches.
For his part head of the commission Issa Qaraqea expressed his grave concern over the lives of the hunger strikers and called on the Israeli authorities to release him immediately.
Qaraqea also appealed to international human groups to intervene and save Shadeed and Abu Fara.
The hunger strikers have been on hunger strike since September 25 2016 in protest at their detention administratively with no indictment or trial.
