Poll: 61% of Israelis oppose ceasefire with Hamas

Monday 16-July-2018

The latest escalation in the Gaza Strip still dominates the ongoing political debate in Israel whether through statements by ministers and military officials or analysis by writers and experts.

Based on the results of an opinion poll published by Walla website Sunday 61% of the Israelis said that agreeing to a ceasefire with Hamas was a wrong decision while 27% of them supported the agreement.

Conducted by Panels Politics institute the poll shows that 58% of the Israelis do not trust the government’s policy toward the Gaza Strip. About 45% of the Israelis support a new military operation against the enclave while 37% oppose them.

The Palestinian resistance groups on Saturday fired dozens of projectiles toward Israeli settlements neighboring the Gaza Strip in response to Israeli attacks on several Gaza targets in which two children were killed and dozens of civilians were injured.
