Gaza’s Electricity Distribution Company (GEDCO) launched cries for help over the acute shortage in energy equipment and maintenance kit as a result of Israel’s obstruction of the entrance of much-needed materials via border crossings.
A statement issued by the company warned of the serious upshots of Israel’s deliberate hindrance of the access of urgently-needed equipment into the blockaded Gaza Strip with the advent of a freezing winter season.
The company appealed to the Palestinian Authority (PA) chaired by Mahmoud Abbas and all concerned parties to take urgent action in order to urge the occupation authorities to lift the ban on the entry of goods into Gaza and unblock the border-crossings so as to allow a free passage for life-saving equipment into the coastal enclave.
