Palestinian prisoner Maher al-Akhras on Wednesday entered day 94 of his hunger strike in protest at his administrative detention amid serious health deterioration.
A court session was slated to be held at the Israeli higher court of justice on Wednesday to look into a request filed by the hunger striker’s lawyers for transferring him to al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem or an-Najah National University Hospital in Nablus.
In this regard the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs warned that prisoner Akhras’s health condition was extremely serious and his determination to continue his hunger strike would cause irreversible damage to his vital organs.
