Prisoner Barghouthi starts open hunger strike

Tuesday 28-November-2017

Detainees and Ex-detainees Committee revealed that the Palestinian sick captive Ali al-Barghouthi 45 started on Tuesday an open hunger strike in protest at procrastination in conducting medical tests for him at Ashkelon prison clinic.

A report by the committee of Palestine Liberation Organization quoted the representative of prisoners in Ashkelon jail Naser Abu Hamid as saying that detainee Barghouthi needs to undergo three medical tests including heart TC scan. The clinic however has been procrastinating in doing so for over two months.

Abu Hamid added that captive Barghouthi suffers from pain in the chest and the heart and feels exhausted whenever he moves or walks around.

Prisoner Barghouthi who is from Aboud town east of Ramallah city has been arrested since April 2004. He is serving a life sentence and additional 40 years for belonging to Fatah Movement.
