OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Palestinian prisoner Mohammed Al-Taj has gone on hunger strike for six days to pressure the Israeli administration into moving him to another prison close to his mother’s home in Tobas.
The mother appealed in a statement to the media for the transfer of her son to a prison near her home in view of her health condition.
Taj who has been on hunger strike since last Monday is held in the Ramon jail and his mother living in Tobas has to travel for five hours to reach the jail then five hours to go back home.
The mother said she was suffering from heart problems and will have a cardiac catheterization in Ramallah government hospital.
She added that she had tabled a number of requests for the transfer of her son but the Israeli prisons authority refused. She appealed to human rights groups to help her in demanding the transfer of her son the soonest. Taj is serving an 18-year sentence.
