Protest staged in Nablus in demand for returning bodies of martyrs

Sunday 27-August-2017

Dozens of Palestinians on Sunday participated in a protest in Nablus city to demand the return of withheld bodies of Palestinian martyrs.

The protest in which families of martyrs and representatives of various organizations were present was organized by the national campaign to restore martyrs’ bodies. Portraits of martyrs and banners demanding the return of their bodies were raised.

The campaign’s representative Muzaffar Douqan said “We came here to tell families of martyrs that they are not alone” and added “We will not retreat until we bury every martyr in his hometown.”

Douqan pointed out that nearly 10 bodies of slain Palestinians are currently held in mortuary while 249 others are buried in Israel’s cemeteries of numbers. In addition to 67 missing bodies he pointed out that there are 19 Gazans whose fate has been unknown since the last Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

He stressed that the threats declared by some Israeli ministers to transfer the bodies kept in mortuary to the cemeteries of numbers will make the campaigners more determined to continue their battle on the legal and popular levels to restore the martyrs’ bodies.
