Protest vigil in Nazareth against Israeli political arrests

Monday 7-November-2016

Dozens of Palestinian activists waged Monday a protest vigil against Israeli systematic arrests targeting Palestinian worshipers and sit-inners in al-Aqsa Mosque.

The protest vigil was organized outside the Israeli court of Nazareth as three Palestinians are scheduled to be brought before the court today.

The participants chanted slogans and raised banners in protest against the Israeli political arrests and persecution against Palestinian leaders and activists within the Green Line.

During the event head of the Freedoms Committee Sheikh Kamal al-Khatib said that the protest vigil came in solidarity with the three political detainees who were arrested ten days ago for defending al-Aqsa Mosque.

The three detainees’ arrest came as part of Israel’s deliberate and systematic targeting of Palestinian worshipers in the holy shrine Sheikh Khatib continued.

Only the Muslims have the right to al-Aqsa he stressed.

“We came here to say to our detained brothers that you are not alone” according to his statements.

Sheikh Khatib pointed out that the detainees are still prevented from meeting their lawyers.

For his part the leader in the Balad party Riad Mhadid said that Israeli political persecution will never succeed to stop the Palestinian people from defending their holy shrine.
