To the east of Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate the illegal settlement of Psagot are located expanding every day and devouring on its way more Palestinian agricultural and razing land and more homes under unjust military orders.
Psagot which was built with armed force and terror is one of seven settlements lying in the Jabal at-Tawil area east of al-Bireh.
Recently four Palestinian homes near the settlement have been threatened by demolition by the Israeli army according to the Legal Unit for Following up Israeli Violations an affiliate of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
The families living in these homes for their part informed the legal unit and asked for its help to have the demolition orders frozen.
Ola Hamdan whose home is slated for demolition said the house of her family had been built before the existence of Psagot.
“Today the settlers want to displace and banish us although we have been owners of the land for thousands of years but we will not leave even if the house is pulled down over our heads” Hamdan said.
“The demolition notice issued against our home has coincided with a Jewish holiday so that we could not object swiftly. We were given three days after receiving the order to file an objection otherwise the demolition would be carried out during the holiday” she added.
Previously settlers from Psagot with the help from a pro-settler organization called Regavim also filed a petition with the Israeli high court of justice to demolish al-Bireh stadium located some hundreds of meters away from the settlement.
In their bid to extract a court demolition order the settlers and Regavim said in their petition that the stadium was built with no permit and would lead to more security problems in the area near their settlement.
