GAZA (PIC)– Armed wing of Hamas Movement the Qassam Brigades (QB) has affirmed that a group of its fighters attacked an IOF patrol in Beit Lahia city north of Gaza Strip killing and wounding a number of Israeli occupation soldiers.
In a military communiqué it issued on Saturday and a copy of which was faxed to the PIC the QB explained that a team of its fighters spotted an Israeli force trying to infiltrate into the city and immediately engaged them in fierce gun battles inflicting casualties in the force lines.
According to the communiqué Israeli Apache choppers and ambulances rushed to the battle scene evacuating and transporting the killed and wounded soldiers to military hospitals inside the 1948-occupied Palestinian lands.
Spokesman of the IOF troops acknowledged that at least two Israeli soldiers were injured when QB fighters unleashed a homemade anti-tank projectile at their military bulldozer.
The Hebrew Ha’aretz newspaper confirmed the IOF casualties adding that the wounded soldiers were taken to a hospital inside the costal city of Ashkelon.
The Israeli occupation government appeared reluctant to carry out a full-scale land blitz into the Strip as the nightmare of the IOF troops’ humiliating defeat in south Lebanon was still looming before them.
Meanwhile the number of Palestinian martyrs killed in the non-stop Israeli land and aerial bombarding of the Strip reached 14 in addition to 75 wounded citizens within the past 48 hours.
