Senior Hamas official Wasfi Qabha has warned that the holding of Palestinian elections with no national consensus would perpetuate the inter-Palestinian division.
In press remarks Qabha stressed the need for the Palestinian Authority and Fatah to provide national and healthy atmospheres for the elections where citizens can express their opinions freely without being exposed to persecution harassment and detention.
He denounced some Fatah officials for talking about democracy while their Movement eliminates its rivals and arrest them in the West Bank.
The Hamas official called on Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas to immediately convene the leadership framework of the factions for a meeting to discuss all contentious issues in the Palestinian arena and take appropriate decisions serving the Palestinian people.
