Qarawi: Israeli decision to annex WB establishes new serious stage

Monday 1-January-2018

MP Fathi Qarawi deputy on Hamas Movement in the Palestinian Legislative Council said that the Israeli decision which was upheld by Israeli Likud party to annex the West Bank to 1948 Occupied Palestine is a non-binding decision.

The decision exposes the weak political performance of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the failure of the peace process he stated.

In a statement on Monday MP Qarawi said that the PA response to the decision is unavailing and worthless. The PA press statements are mere verbal reactions with no actual effect he added.

Qarawi called on the PA to halt peace negotiations with Israeli occupation authorities and to head for the reconciliation with no preconditions. He also demanded that the PA lift the sanctions on the Gaza Strip and halt security measures and political arrests in the West Bank as well as security coordination with Israeli occupation.

Annexing the West Bank decision establishes a new serious stage of instability. It was inspired by the US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel MP Qarawi said.

He concluded by calling on the Palestinian factions to confront the decision and asked Arabs and Muslims to bear their responsibilities for the Palestinian question and Occupied Jerusalem.
