The State of Qatar has reiterated its strong condemnation of the Israeli police raids and extremist settlers’ break-ins that happened lately at the Aqsa Mosque and involved assaults on defenseless Palestinian worshipers.
This came in a statement delivered on Monday by ambassador Alya Al Thani Qatar’s permanent representative to the UN at the Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East including the occupied Palestinian territories.
Qatar’s statement described the Israeli storming of the Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan as “a flagrant violation of the international law international humanitarian law and international human rights law.”
The statement considered such repeated Israeli practices and attacks against the Palestinian people and the Islamic holy sites “acts of provocation to the feelings of millions of Muslims especially as they happen systematically during the holy month of Ramadan.”
Ambassador Al Thani stressed that such violations occur as a result of Israel’s ongoing ability to escape accountability and the international community’s complacency in protecting the Palestinian people’s rights and enforcing the provisions of international law and UN resolutions in this regard.
She reiterated Qatar’s support for the historical role of Jordan’s Hashemite guardianship in protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Occupied Jerusalem and the role of al-Quds Committee in Morocco in supporting Jerusalem and the steadfastness of its people.
