The State of Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the assaults carried out on Sunday by more than 1600 Israeli settlers into holy al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem
“This is the largest number of Israeli settlers who have stormed the Mosque since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967” Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The ministry stressed the special status held by Occupied Jerusalem and slammed the Israeli occupation authorities for violating their obligations as an occupying power under international law.
The State of Qatar said that it holds the Israeli government accountable for any harm done to the holy al-Aqsa Mosque as a result of its increasing violations.
The statement expressed Qatar’s rejection of Israel’s violations of the freedom of worship and aggressions on Islamic sites across the occupied Palestinian territories.
Qatar also warned of the repercussions of such illegal practices on the region and the world.
The statement called on the international community to live up to its moral and legal responsibilities and to take urgent action so as to protect al-Aqsa Mosque and holy sites in Palestine.
