Rafah crossing: Over 800 passengers enter Gaza on first day

The Palestinian interior ministry’s crossing and border authority said that 832 stranded passengers arrived in the Gaza Strip aboard buses on Saturday through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

In a press release on Sunday the border authority added that the Egyptian authorities also allowed the entry of an ambulance carrying a deceased person as well as shipments of cement wood paint and cheese to Gaza on the first day of the crossing’s opening.

The Egyptian authorities also opened the Rafah crossing for travelers going to Gaza for the second day running on Sunday

The Rafah crossing was opened temporarily by Egypt in one direction on Saturday and is scheduled to remain so until Monday evening for the travel of people with humanitarian cases students and patients leaving for Gaza.

According to statistics released by the interior ministry in Gaza more than 20000 Palestinian citizens are in dire need to leave Gaza through the crossing for different purposes.
