Rafah crossing reopened before stranded Gazans for 2nd day

The Egyptian authorities re-opened on Tuesday morning the Rafah border-crossing with Gaza as part of a three-day exceptional opening.

The Egyptian authorities closed the Rafah passageway at 11:30 p.m. on Monday after they allowed 585 sick passengers students and holders of foreign passports and residence permits access into the blockaded Gaza Strip.

The crossings and borders department said 12 buses left the crossing. At the same time 85 passengers were denied access out of the crossing.

Egypt announced a three-day exceptional opening of Rafah from Monday to Wednesday before humanitarian cases. Thousands of Gazans are in dire need of crossing into Egypt en route to other countries for various reasons topped by medical treatment family reunion university studies and others.
