Member of Fatah’s central committee Jibril Rajoub on Saturday claimed that the Jews have a right to the Western Wall (Buraq Wall) of the Aqsa Mosque.
In a program broadcast by Israel’s Channel 2 Rajoub said that the Aqsa Mosque would be in the hands of the Palestinians in any future peace agreement but its Western Wall would be under Israel’s jurisdiction.
The Fatah official also hailed the recent regional visit of US president Donald Trump as “an opportunity to advance the peace process.”
He said that Trump has good intentions to restart the peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis adding that the Palestinian Authority is ready all the time to sit at the negotiating table.
Rajoub noted that Trump invited Palestinian figures to visit Washington to discuss the future of the peace settlement in cooperation with an Israeli crew.
He stressed that “Israel has the right to maintain its security and prosperity but not within the 1967 borders.”
