Ramallah health ministry deprives Gaza of medicines and baby milk

Wednesday 10-May-2017

The Palestinian health authorities in Gaza have affirmed that the health ministry in Ramallah has stopped sending medicinal supplies and baby milk to the besieged enclave.

The local news agency al-Ray quoted Munir al-Barsh director of the ministry’s pharmaceutical department in Gaza as saying that the health ministry in Ramallah informed them that it would no longer supply Gaza with its needs of medicines and baby milk.

Barsh said that the Ramallah health ministry affirmed the decision in this regard was politically-motivated.

He warned of catastrophic impacts as a result of such a step on the health situation in Gaza asserting that the medicine crisis gets worse every day especially since Gaza has not been supplied with medical supplies for more than three months.

The official pointed out that large quantities of medicines including Gaza’s share recently entered the health ministry’s warehouses in Ramallah and Nablus adding that some hospitals in Gaza reported on Tuesday that they ran out of 17 types of cancer medicines.
