The coordinating office of the popular committees for refugees in Gaza warned UNRWA of the consequences of its cost-cutting measures pursued against the employees as well as of the refusal of holding talks with the employees union.
In a statement on Tuesday the committees asked UNRWA to retract warning some employees to cut parts of their salaries for using social media to express their opinions on national matters.
A statement of the popular committees said that enforcing UNRWA regulations should not be done at the expense of the Palestinian identity and the right of the freedom of speech approved by the United Nations in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights issued on December 10 1948.
