Releasing Israeli soldiers hinges on Palestinian prisoners freedom

Tuesday 19-October-2021

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said in a statement issued on Monday that it will spare no effort to release the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

The statement marked the tenth anniversary of the Wafa Al-Ahrar prisoners exchange deal.

The group considered the Palestinian prisoners’ liberation as a religious national and humanitarian duty.

Hamas added that the prisoner issue tops its priorities and it will not rest until those prisoners are freed.

It asserted that releasing the captured Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip will have no price other than releasing the Palestinian prisoners.

The Movement stressed that the Israeli government must make it clear to the public that the exchange deal is the only way that can free the captured Israeli soldiers in Gaza.

In 2011 Egypt brokered a prisoners’ exchange deal between Israel and Hamas by which Hamas freed the Israeli corporal Gilad Shalit while Israel released more than 1000 Palestinians from its prisons.
