Member of Hamas’s political bureau Ezzat al-Resheq has affirmed that the Palestinian people will dispel the Israeli occupation state’s illusions and dreams of having sovereignty over Jerusalem.
“The image of sovereignty over Jerusalem that the enemy is fantasizing about has only exposed its true nature and showed the fragility of its entity” Resheq said in a statement on Monday.
“That image has proved to the world that the occupation government its army and settlers are nothing but thieves who cannot raise their flag for a few hours without the highest levels of alert and the protection of more than 7000 soldiers armed to the teeth” the Hamas official added.
Describing the Israeli flag as a “pirate flag” and a “meaningless piece of cloth” Resheq stressed that the flag of Palestine would remain hoisted in Jerusalem “the capital of our Palestinian state.”
Last Sunday dozens of Palestinian citizens were assaulted injured and arrested in and around the Old City of Jerusalem as they were peacefully protesting the settler march of flags or defending themselves against attacks.
Video footage circulated recently on the internet showed far-right settlers attacking Palestinian storeowners journalists and onlookers as they chanted racist slogans and insults against Arabs while marching through the Old City of Jerusalem.
Israeli police officers also saw settlers committing different assaults without moving to detain them.
