Rotem settlers seize Palestinian land in northern Jordan Valley

Wednesday 19-July-2017

Jewish settlers on Tuesday seized and bulldozed a tract of agricultural land belonging to Palestinian citizens near the illegal settlement of Rotem in the northern Jordan Valley.

Specialist in settlement affairs Aref Daraghmeh said that the settlers leveled about five dunums of Palestinian-owned land near their settlement Rotem.

Daraghmeh expressed his belief that the settlers would use the annexed land for agricultural purposes.

The Israeli occupation army and settlers recently intensified their efforts to extend their control over the entire northern Jordan Valley.

About 80 percent of the northern Jordan Valley was already turned into military zones or used for housing and agricultural purposes for Jewish settlers.

Rotem settlement was founded in 1984 as a military outpost before it was turned into an agricultural settlement where now about 170 settlers are living.
